Our project uses an interactive quiz to explore how digital cookies work and their impact on privacy. The quiz asks questions about how you share and use data online and is designed to feel unsettling, mimicking the intrusive nature of cookies. At the end of the quiz, you receive a personalized digital cookie that reflects your online behavior, along with a printed receipt to take home.
This serves as a thought-provoking reminder of how much data you share and how little you may know about it. Many internet users accept cookies without understanding the true extent of what they are agreeing to. In today's society the convenience of cookies have more value than the cost of them.
Many internet users accept cookies without understanding the true extent of what they are agreeing to. Our research showed that most people rarely read terms and conditions, allowing websites to collect a big amounts of personal data. This lack of awareness motivated us to choose this topic and make: The Cookie Lab, a interactive quiz where visitors can explore how digital cookies work and see their impact on privacy.
We aim to make complex topics like data collection and online privacy accessible and engaging. By using a interactive quiz, we hope to encourage visitors to question how much information they share online and reflect on the balance between convenience and personal privacy.
This project was done at my exchange semester at Elisava in Barcelona together with Sara Sandhaug, Annie Strandjord and Petra Börcsök.
